Based on our research of birth records from Nusco, Italy we believe that Amato Maria Zampitella is one of two brothers responsible for all of the Zampitella family. We have been told that these brothers were of UNKNOWN parents, however Amato's 1824 birth record indicates his mother was Orsola Prudente. Amato Maria Zampitella married Gaudiella DiVito and fathered Raffaele (1854), Beatrice (1857), Orsola (1868), and Maria Carmela (?) .

Raffaele Zampitella married Carmela Nicola Stefanina Prudente. According to birth records the couple had their first child Amato (1879), then Felecia Maria (Marrietta) (1885), Luigi (1887), Salvatore (Bill) (1889), Antonio (1890), Felice (1892), and Giulia (1894).

The birth records indicate that Beatrice Zampitella gave birth to a son Emilio (1890) she was married to Amato DellaVecchia.

Maria Carmela Zampitella, gave birth to a second son by the name of Amato Maria (1890). Maria Carmela was married to Giacomo Dellamarco and had their first child Guiseppe (1886) then Alfonso (1892), Agostino (1896), Raffaele (1898) and Leontina Giovanna Maria (1901)

Orsola Zampitella like her brother Raffaele married into her grandmother's family, she married Vincenzo Prudente. She gave birth to Arcangelo (1893) Amato Antonio (1895) and Maria Carmela (1898).

We believe that Amato had a brother named Salvatore. We have identified Salvatore Zampitella through the death certificate of Agostino Zampitella dated 1909. That document indicates that Salvatore Zampitella and wife Giuseppa Calabrese were Agostino's parents. The death certificate indicates that Agostino's spouse (at time of death) was Domenica Mongelluzzo. According to family members Agostino Zampitella was married to Nicoletta Favale, she gave birth to 5 children Raffaela (1885), Salvatore (1887), Michele (1892), Assunta (1889), and Giuditta. (1895). Further research is required.
